Design Engineer | Travel between London and Lenham required | Outside IR35

As a Design Engineer, you will be fully responsible for the successful implementation of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet customer specifications and expectations. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, self-motivated, and comfortable liaising with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors. You should also be adept at managing multiple projects concurrently, often with tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement control systems for data centre power systems and other industrial applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure control solutions meet operational requirements and industry standards.
  • Implement safety systems to protect both machinery and operators, adhering to relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and maintain software for automation projects.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop software solutions that enhance system functionality and performance.
  • Develop and create project specific engineering documentation.
  • Budgetary control, managing labour and material acquisition.
  • Delivery of projects that are on time, within budget, and in accordance with the technical requirements of the contract.
  • Commissioning of control systems, performance testing and conduct of factory and site acceptance tests on projects when required.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years' relevant, on job experience within controls systems - Essential
  • Experience with PLC hardware and peripherals (Rockwell / Mitsubishi / Schneider) Essential
  • Experience of design and integration of PLC and SCADA based control system solutions -Essential
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems and their integration with PLC software / hardware -Essential
  • The ability to use technical documentation including the ability to read and amend electrical drawings - Essential
  • The ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative - Essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills - Essential
  • Confidence, tenacity, strong communication skills, logical thinking, organization skills and teamwork - Essential
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications - Essential
  • The ability to work flexibly to meet project requirements - Essential
  • Hold a full valid driving licence - Essential
  • Experience of industrial ethernet network - Desired
  • Experience within manufacturing/production environments - Desired
  • Degree, HND, HNC in electrical/electronic engineering or a related subject area or minimum 5 years' experience in similar role - Desired
