Senior Marine Engineer - Job Description

Location: New York, NY, USA
Salary Range: $150,000 - $160,000 per annum

Team & Overview:

·Our team provides the engineering and coordination of the installation of our subsea power cables according to the requirements of the offshore wind farm. The work is performed in close collaboration with in-house specialist resources in Europe and with local subcontractors providing the means for successful project execution.
·The local US team is a cross disciplinary team for the complete execution of marine installation sub scopes in the North East of the United States.
Experience and Job Overview:
·To succeed in our department, you should have some relevant experience from the energy industry, ideally with an employer related to subsea/marine activities.
·You also have experience working in a combined office site, and -offshore work environment.
·It is ideal if you have worked in companies that are project driven, and have activities related to marine operations, installation of HV subsea cables, umbilical's or subsea pipelines.
·It is also great to have experience in working both domestically and internationally.
·To be able to fully deliver in this role you must have a commercial mindset and strive to find optimal balance between good technical and commercial solutions.
·In this role you will work in one or more project teams with focus on HV cable installation related activities including methodology, cost, schedule and subcontracting.
·You will also study the Clients' specifications and develop scopes for project execution.
·You need to further refine the projects' proposed solutions for installation and protection of HV cables.
·In this job you will take on the project role as "Package Engineer" where you will prepare and evaluate quotations to subcontractors in cooperation with purchasing department.
·In support of this you will prepare documentation, cost overviews, evaluate risk, and participate in coordination meetings, stakeholder meetings, participate in site visits, and follow up work being performed on vessels.
·To bring yourself and the team forward you naturally seek personal development and stay updated on relevant research, technology, industry practice and rules.
·The more you participate in developing and sharing technical solutions relevant to the department, the better it is for the company.

Experience and Skills Required

  • You are an engineer with relevant education, Master/Bachelor or similar. Typical education is offshore engineering, naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, coastal engineering, ocean engineering, or similar.
  • You have minimum of 2, ideally 3 to 4 years of relevant engineering and project experience.
  • You are fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal good communication skills.
  • You have a good understanding and technical competence within discipline area.
  • You are able to work both independently and in teams, as well have an ability and willingness to share.
  • Seagoing or marine construction experience is highly desired, as is knowledge of or experience with offshore wind permitting within the US market.
  • "Self-propelled"/inner drive to prioritize and perform own tasks.
  • Able to find alternative solutions in the work and ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a high sense of quality and on time performance.
