A pioneering company in the renewable energy field, specializing in high and extra-high voltage Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) projects is looking for a senior electrical engineer to be at the forefront of their BESS project pipeline.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects comply with electricity regulations such as the Electricity Business Act and Renewable Energy Law. Monitor and adhere to Japanese electrical standards throughout project phases.
  • Oversee utility interconnection studies, negotiate interconnection conditions, and confirm equipment specifications with utility providers.
  • Review and verify design and construction documents from EPC contractors, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
  • Conduct various inspections (mid-term, final, and periodical) on-site, as well as witness factory tests of equipment. Support METI self-inspection and safety inspections.
  • Provide technical support for HV and EHV BESS projects, including origination, development, and construction phases. Assist with non-FIT HV and EHV PV projects.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on high and extra-high voltage projects.
  • Possess a Chief Electrical Engineer 2nd class license or higher.
  • Native Japanese proficiency is required.

  • Proven ability to manage utility interconnections and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in reviewing technical documents and enforcing industry standards.
  • Skilled in performing detailed inspections and technical tests.
  • Capable of working effectively with engineering teams and project stakeholders.
