About The Role
We are looking for a Utilities CAD Technician to join our tunnelling team to work on HS2. This will be joining our design team for Bromford and Long Itchington Wood in Birmingham.
What You'll Be Doing
- Establish and Maintain a 3D CAD Utilities Model ( Utilities Model) in compliance with relevant specifications to support the Avoidance of Danger of Underground and Overhead Services Safe System of Work, including:
- Collect and process all information related to Utilities from Statutory Undertakers records, LMJV, any other relevant Authority or Supply Chain, either historical or new based on recent diversions undertaken;
- Collect and process site information, including trial holes, as built records, Ground Penetrating Radar & CAT & Genny surveys;
- Model new diversions planned based on information available in coordination with the Utilities Design Manager;
- Manipulate and control the Utilities Model to match information from site including clean-up process (removal of unwanted information such as duplicates);
- Change status of assets " from existing to abandoned and abandoned to removed;
- Control and identify layers in accordance with CAD specification & PAS128;
- Ensure the Utilities Model is established and kept updated in two versions " HS2 Project Grid and OSGB " in an appropriate folder in ProjectWise in both Microstation and AutoCAD formats;
- Request information from site through the Senior Utilities Engineer and Utilities Engineer to clarify any doubts or uncharted services;
- Transform CAD models or any other information received from one Grid System to the other as appropriate and required;
- Carry out due diligence in all other tasks relevant to this goal;
- Interrogation of others™ CAD and BIM models including clash detection and flag up conflicts;
- Ability to read and determine information from drawings, schedules and specification.
- Preparation of drawings using CAD software as appropriate including extracts from the Utilities Model to be integrated in Permits to Dig;
Who we're looking for
- Experience working on major civil engineering infrastructure project or worked on large utilities projects
- Good understanding of Design packages such as Bentley MicroStation, 3D AutoCAD and BIM is beneficial
- Holds a UK's driving licence
