A foreign offshore wind developer is urgently looking for a Senior Electrical Project Engineer role where you'll lead electrical engineering initiatives for onshore substations in Japan. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the forefront of sustainable energy development in a rapidly evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead through-life design for electrical components and overall system aspects of onshore substations, including transformers, switchgear, and protection.
  • Develop tender specifications and facilitate technical negotiations with suppliers.
  • Generate conceptual designs and single-line diagrams (SLDs) for substations.
  • Prepare technical documentation for grid applications.
  • Focus on interface topics and auxiliary systems.
  • Coordinate with European Electrical Engineers for component integration and power system analysis.
  • Support grid application processes and supplier pre-qualifications.
  • Manage electrical works on project construction sites, overseeing factory and site acceptance tests.
  • Supervise internal and external research projects.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with high-voltage substations in Japan, ideally in roles with EPCI contractors, high-voltage component manufacturers, or transmission system operators.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical power engineering.
  • Proficiency in international (IEC) and Japanese standards (JEC).
  • Experience with grid application processes and specification drafting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical plant components, including switchgear, power transformers, protection, LV, and auxiliary systems.
  • Basic familiarity with Power System Analysis tools like Power Factory or PSSE.
  • Track record in supplier liaison and negotiation.
  • Fluency in English and Japanese (spoken and written).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a proactive and resourceful approach.

Desired Skills/Experiences:

  • Basic AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Previous involvement in construction phases of high-voltage substation projects.
  • Specialization in a particular electrical plant component.
  • Additional certifications or training related to electrical engineering or renewable energy.
